Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence has officially codified the OWL-APC, a new 4×4 armoured personnel carrier (APC) manufactured domestically, further expanding the fleet of armoured vehicles available to service members.
The announcement brings the OWL-APC into line with other codified vehicles, such as the MAC OWL, for formal use by Ukrainian armed forces.

According to the Ministry, the OWL-APC is distinguished by its compact design, high mobility, and advanced mine protection capabilities.
Manufactured by Ukrainian defence tech company Military Armoured Company (MAC) HUB, the vehicle features a V-shaped monocoque hull engineered to maximise crew safety and survivability against explosive threats.
The modular construction includes a double floor, inertial blast-absorbing components, and shock-absorbing seats for personnel.
One of the OWL-APC’s notable features is an indigenous 360-degree virtual reality (VR) surround-view system, combined with night-vision capability.
This enables the vehicle’s driver to maintain complete visibility of their environment by using VR goggles, a function highlighted by the Ministry as improving operational awareness during missions conducted in low-visibility conditions.
The company responsible for the OWL-APC, which has prior experience producing armoured vehicles such as the MAC OWL, designed the new carrier to transport security and defence personnel while conducting a range of tasks.
These tasks include combat operations, fire support, special missions, patrols, and responses to natural or human-caused disasters.
During official testing, the OWL-APC demonstrated that it meets the tactical and technical criteria specified by the Ministry.
In addition to its protection and technological features, the OWL-APC offers several operational advantages, including a longer range, higher top speed, and reduced maintenance costs compared to other APCs.
The vehicle’s troop compartment is modular and can be reconfigured for medical evacuation within hours.
