The Airbus A400M has officially withdrawn from the Indian Air Force’s Medium
Transport Aircraft competition.
The decision was driven by high acquisition costs, lifecycle support concerns,
and the aircraft’s engine history, which collectively made the platform
unsuitable for India’s stated requirement of 18–30 tons payload capacity.
