General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS) and Primordial Labs have agreed to explore the use of natural language command and control technology on the former’s combat vehicle portfolio.
The companies signed a master teaming agreement on 6 October 2026 that will see them integrating Primordial Labs’ Anura Natural Language Command and Control (NLC2) software across GDLS’s vehicle portfolio, including the Abrams tank and the company’s next-generation combat vehicle programmes.

According to GDLS, the software interprets spoken commands from crew members, enabling them to operate various onboard technologies, such as sensors, communications, and uncrewed assets, without relying on traditional manual interfaces or hierarchical menu systems.
Traditionally, introducing new vehicle capabilities has often resulted in additional controls and increased training requirements for crews. By using a single interface that adapts to integrated technologies and software upgrades, Anura streamlines operation and support faster adoption of emerging systems by the US Army and Marine Corps.
In addition, Anura operates at the network edge without cloud connectivity, allowing it to function in contested or communications-denied environments.
GDLS US operations vice president and general manager Keith Barclay said: “We see natural-language control as a critical enabler of greater lethality with a smaller crew size, reduced physical workloads and increased cognitive performance for manoeuvre combat teams.
“Our partnership with Primordial Labs and the integration of Anura onto platforms such as the Abrams tank and our next-generation combat vehicles are about giving any soldier, in any formation, the ability to intuitively command complex systems.”
