Patria has delivered the first five CAVS 6×6 armoured vehicles to the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) under the Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) programme.

The deliveries, which were made in in Zeithain, Germany, are a part of the two procurement contracts signed by Germany and Patria in December 2025. The combined value of the orders exceed €2bn ($2.3bn).

The agreements cover the supply of up to 876 CAVS 6×6 armoured vehicles in four variants. These include those fitted with the Kongsberg RS4 remote control weapon system and the Patria NEMO turreted mortar system.

Patria protected mobility business area executive vice president Jussi Järvinen said: “The first deliveries of the CAVS 6×6 vehicles to Germany mark a significant milestone for Patria and the entire multinational programme.

“These vehicles signal the beginning of Germany’s transition toward a modern, highly mobile protected mobility fleet, while also demonstrating the strength and efficiency of the CAVS cooperation framework. As Germany now advances into full scale supply, we together with our German industry partners FFG, JWT and KNDS ensure strong security of supply and provide the Bundeswehr with all the required vehicles and capabilities.”

The Finnish-led CAVS programme includes seven member nations namely Finland, Latvia, Sweden, Germany, Denmark, the UK, and Norway. The vehicles are also operational in Ukraine.

Germany became a participant in 2023 and has now reached the full-scale supply phase.

Patria leads the development of the 6×6 armoured vehicle system within CAVS, drawing on more than 40 years of experience in protected troop transportation and system integration.

The majority of vehicle production uses local industry resources from member nations, which enhances supply security for all participants.

To date, Patria has received orders and options for roughly 2,000 units of its 6×6 vehicle model and has delivered over 300 vehicles.

According to information available on Patria’s website, the vehicle can carry 10 soldiers in the rear and a crew of two in the front cabin.

The vehicle features continuous all-wheel drive and steering on the front two axles. Amphibious capability is available as an option.

While primarily used for troop transport, it can also be configured for roles including command, medical evacuation, heavy armoured personnel carriers (APC), and the 120 mm Patria Nemo mortar support.

In February last year, Germany reached an agreement with Patria to initiate a work package centred on the development and qualification of mortar systems for the Bundeswehr, within the framework of the CAVS programme.
