RTX’s Raytheon ELCAN optical systems business has secured a contract to deliver a customised version of its Specter DR 1-4x weapon sight to the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr).

This production contract supports Germany’s broader initiative of modernising its soldier system, RTX said in a press statement on 25 February 2026.

Raytheon ELCAN, in partnership with Leonardo Germany, will provide a configuration designed to meet specific operational demands set by the German military.

The arrangement includes an integrated Aimpoint reflex sight attached above the primary optic, giving personnel the ability to shift quickly between close-quarters and mid-range combat scenarios.

Raytheon ELCAN business development and strategy manager Chris Reimer said: “The German Armed Forces are undertaking a major enhancement of their soldier system capability, and we are providing a tailored optical solution that supports their evolving operational needs.

“This award reflects continued confidence in the Specter DR platform and our ability to deliver rugged, mission-ready optics for Europe’s frontline forces.”

RTX said that the contract builds on the increasing demand for the Specter DR family across Europe.

Since August 2024, the company has won orders for more than 100,000 units of the Specter DR series from several European countries including Germany, Denmark, Lithuania, Spain, Italy, and Finland. The combined value of these orders exceeds €193m ($227.8m), RTX said.

The Specter DR has been in operational use for more than twenty years and is widely deployed by Nato and allied militaries.

In February last year, the Danish Defence Armed Forces awarded an additional contract to RTX’s Raytheon for the supply of ELCAN Specter DR dual role sights.
