BELFAST — Norway has unveiled a plan to spend an extra 115 billion Krone ($11.8 billion) on defense over the next decade, deeming the additional funding necessary to mitigate against an increasingly “unstable” global security environment. In a statement announcing the planned uplift today, Oslo said the new money will be added to the revised Long-term Defence Plan 2025-2036, initially approved in 2024. This plus up of cash would put the country on track to reach NATO’s 3.5 percent GDP spending target by 2035, though the national parliament first needs to sign off on the funding change and associated equipment…
In April 2018, days after India formally withdrew from the Su-57 Fifth Generation Fighter Aircraft (FGFA) program with Russia, Quwa published an analysis that identified the then-newly announced Franco-German Future Combat Air System (FCAS) as India’s most likely next-generation fighter pathway. At the time, the FCAS had existed for less than a week – Dassault and Airbus had announced their joint development agreement on 25 April 2018 – and the prevailing assumption was that India would pivot toward an American solution. Quwa argued otherwise, and laid out a specific case for why FCAS would absorb India: Remarkably, the FCAS is…

WASHINGTON — Federal Judge Rita Lin issued a sweeping preliminary injunction in Anthropic’s favor Thursday, the latest move in the weeks-long conflict between the AI company and the US government. “The record strongly suggests that the reasons given for designating Anthropic a supply chain risk were pretextual and that [the government’s] real motive was unlawful retaliation,” Lin, who was appointed by former President Joe Biden, wrote in the 48-page order [PDF]. By granting the preliminary junction, she found Anthropic was “likely to succeed” in its lawsuit against the government and therefore, the 17 federal agencies named as defendants — from…
President Donald Trump on Thursday signed an executive order targeting diversity, equity and inclusion programs at companies that are federal contractors. While contractors are already subject to anti-DEI directives that the president enacted at the start of his second term, Trump wrote that this new order is necessary because “some entities continue to engage in DEI activities and often attempt to conceal their efforts to do so.”Under the directive, agencies must ensure that contracts and subcontracts, within 30 days, include a clause that states the contractor: Will not engage in DEI activities. Agrees to provide information and reports to assess compliance. Acknowledges…
